BOATS

The Club welcomes any class of sailing dinghy although only those with a Portsmouth Number may take part in racing. The Portsmouth Number system is a boat handicapping system organised by the RYA which allows different classes of boat to race against each other on equal terms. The lower the Portsmouth Number, the faster the boat. For the latest Portsmouth Numbers, contact the RYA at www.rya.org.uk/tech/dingh.html .
If you already have a sailing boat, that's fine. If you haven't, then don't buy one until you have spoken to us and seen several - our members are usually only too pleased to show you theirs. In the meantime, the Club has a number of boats that members can use for a small charge and on a first come, first served basis.
At present, all of the following classes are sailed by members at Jumbles.
Where 2 + 1 sails are shown, the 3rd sail is an optional spinnaker.
